Internal Tools Engineer
At Marvel, we are on a mission to create an all-in-one design platform that democratises the design process, making it more productive, inclusive and fun. From aspiring creators to professional designers, nearly 2 million people across the globe are using Marvel to bring their ideas to life. Over 100,000 organisations access the platform regularly, including employees at over 75% of the Fortune 100.
This new role is a first for the business, born out of the growth of the various teams at Marvel who need our internal and external tools to work together seamlessly so they can be more productive.
You’ll be working closely with our Customer Success, Marketing, Sales and Support teams, taking full ownership of their requirements and developing solutions, along with the Product Manager and Designers (where necessary). Perfect for a generalist.
What do we mean by ‘Generalist’? When it came to defining this role, we realised that the perfect candidate wouldn’t be focused on one language or skillset- the most important part is your passion for problem solving across the business and our internal operations.
It’s a constantly evolving, roll up your sleeves role that touches on multiple platforms, technologies and teams. Whether that means integrating new tools into our backend or data warehouse, or helping the Support team do their work quicker by turning a manual process into an automated one.
You’re not precious about the tech you get to use everyday, but you are about the solution. You care deeply about helping your colleagues (and friends) do their work better. You can work fast alongside each team in the business and translate their needs into actionable steps.
Needless to say, we’re massively excited about this role and what it means for the next stage of our growth. If this sounds like a fit for you, we can’t wait to hear from you!
We’re quite open to experience levels for this role, although it’s worth noting that Marvel is a large platform so having some experience with similar apps is a plus :)
- Experience working with large web applications or codebases
- Ability to code and script – strong knowledge of Python with Django a plus
- Proactively identify improvements to our tools and processes
- Experience with modern APIs
- Familiarity with MYSQL, Data warehouse systems and ETL processes
- Knowledge of Nginx, Varnish, Express, ElasticSearch
- Experience with cloud based services (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, etc.)
- Competitive salary
- Share options
- Health insurance
- 50% off Virgin Active
- 1 free cinema ticket each week
- 30 days holiday
- Team holiday every year
